Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church was founded in the 1970s by several families.  Services were first held in the homes of several different individuals.  After about one year we were able to obtain a building in the Lloyd, Kentucky area and remained there for about one year.  The Lord then blessed us with property in the Sunshine area of South Shore, Kentucky where the church has remained for over 40 years.

The church was named in honor of the Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church of Jacksonville, North Carolina.  That church had a very powerful impact on the faith of two of our founding members, Mike and Judy Dowdy, when they attended there for several years in the early 1970s.

For over 40 years the church has ministered to the local community and has been a source of Christian love for many through its various ministries.  Over the years Emmanuel has been blessed by many wonderful and faithful individuals including Paul and Isabelle Terry, Bob and Violet Chaffin, Troy and Della Stapleton,  Clovis Vanover and his family, just to name a few.  Emmanuel is now blessed with a group of believers who have a vision for the church and a willingness to work for the Lord.  We are looking forward seeing God's blessings through the efforts of these individuals.

Emmanuel is a member of the Porter Association of Free Will Baptists, the Ohio State Association of Free Will Baptists and the National Association of Free Will Baptists.  We enjoy a positive relationship with our sister churches as well as other churches in our area.

We believe in the Word of God and utilize the King James Version of the Bible.  Our beliefs are conservative in nature and we view our Christian faith as a work in progress.

If you are searching for a place to worship, we would like to invite you to come and be with us at Emmanuel.  You will find a warm welcome,  a loving environment and people who care about you.
